CLADS workshop at Fukushima Research Conference for

gDialog on Fuel/Core Degradation during Severe Accident among the Experts of Materials Science, Thermodynamics, Severe Accident Analysis and Modelingh

Workshop Date July 5 and 6, 2017

Conference Venue:

Manabi-no-Mori conference center, Tomioka-cho, Fukushima (approximately 10km south from Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Station)

Hotels in the city of Iwaki (Rooms are already booked by CLADS/JAEA)

It is expected that decommissioning of Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) would take certain time. In order to promote the decommissioning activities on the one hand, and learn from there to the maximum on the other hand, understanding on the accident progression behavior and the resultant final conditions is indispensable. Since the presently available information is quite limited, estimation based on forensic pieces of information spreading around a wide range of scientific fields is necessary. It is intended in this meeting to enhance dialog among worldwide scientists in different areas so that a common understanding on resolved points and open issues can be enhanced. It is also intended to promote international collaboration that would last for a long time period contributing to safety enhancement of existing and future worldwide NPPs.

Schedule (tentative):

[July 5th]

-Updating our knowledge on analysis and evaluation of accident progress and fuel debris and fission products distribution of each unit of FDNPS;

-Updating our knowledge on the related R&Ds and thermodynamic databases on corium and fission products.

[July 6th]

-Updating our knowledge on fuel debris characterization;

-Presentation of related R&Ds by young generation researchers.
